King and Rook vs. King

April 28, 2010 A Comment

There are two methods and the combination thereof to achieve this. But because it seems easier to learn, is explained first the longest. From the diagram.

1.Th4
White boxes limit the king's enemy, now available only has rows 5, 6, 7 and 8.
1 ... RD5
the black does not want to lose it more rows without a fight, which would be the case if he played, for example: l ... Ke6. Which would be answered with 2.Th5.
2.Rf2
The king has to cooperate because the tower can not "own."
2 ... RE5 3.Rf3 RD5
If 3 ... Kf5 4.Th5 + more rows by subtracting the black king. We see because white 3.Re5 avoided.
RC5 4.Re3 5.Rd3 Kb5 6.Rc3 Ra5
Plays that are terminated circumvent the situation sought by White.
Mate with Tower

Position after 7.Rb3
7.Rb3
The target is ready for the check boxes earns more on its way to the edge of the board.
7 ... Kb5 8.Th5 +
Right now, forcing him to retreat.
8 ... RC6
If RA6 9.Rb4 8 ... much easier to work for White. Something similar happens with 8 ... Rb6 9.Rc4, always looking for the same scheme.
9.Rc4
Note the difference with the play of white 3.Rf3 now 3.Rb4 is not recommended. For the king is pushed toward the tower, which will force waste time when it is reached by the black king.

Position after 9.Rc4
9 ... Kd6
Against 9 ... Rb6 10.Tg5, wasting time, 10 ... RA6 11.Rb4 and black king to retreat.
10.Ta5
Relocating the tower to avoid being bothered by the rival king. The rest of the maneuver is only repetition of the foregoing.
10 ... Ke6 11.Rd4 Kf6 13.Rf4 Kg6 12.Re4 Kh6 14.Rg4 Kf7 16.Rf5 Kg6 15.Ta6 17.Tb6 Kg7 18.Rg5 Kh7 20.Rf6 Kg7 Ke8 19.Tb7 Kf8 21. Rh7 Rb8 23.Rd6 Kc8 Kd8 22.Re6 24.Rc6 Rb8 25.Rb6 Ra8 26.Th8 + +
