Torre Attack

March 29, 2010 2 Comments

Torre Attack (ECO D03) is an important system to play an opening closed. This is a solid structure and generating tactic games. Named after the Mexican GM Carlos Torre, who used it successfully in the 20's of XX century. Although it may seem, in principle, not to be confused with the Attack Trompovsky, the prior development of the horse, a big difference. Is more related to the Colle System, in the sense that the pieces are displayed almost regardless of what you do Black: e3, c3, CBD2, Bd3, 0-0, but the strategic ideas are totally different. Unlike in the Colle System, White intend to launch an attack on the kingside, and play Ne5, f4 and go to the tower to the third row (Rf3-g3 or h3). Black must be very careful with the Torre Attack, because if you play passively end up in lower positions. However, a good game, they have nothing to fear.

Main Line

1. D4 d5
2. Nf3 Nf6
3. Bg5
1.d4 d5 4.e3 e6 2.Nf3 c5 3.Ag5 Nf6 Be7 5.Cbd2 6.C3 7.Ad3 Nbd7
1.d4 d5 2.Nf3 Nf6 4.e3 g6 3.Ag5 Bg7 7.c3 c5 5.Cbd2 OO 6.Ad3

Torre Attack can be raised even though the black does not come to play d5, for example:

1.d4 Nf6 2.Nf3 g6 5.e3 OO 3.Ag5 Bg7 4.Cbd2 d6 6.Ac4
