Parham Attack

June 1, 2010 4 Comments

Parham Attack, also known as Attack of the evil queen or opening Patzer, is an irregular chess opening that begins with the line: 1.e4 e5 2.Dh5

It is named in honor of the American chess master Bernard Parham, the first player of that level defended their use. Parham also favored the early development of the queen in other positions, as in his favorite line against the Sicilian Defense, 1.e4 c5 2.Dh5.

Parham Attack violates the principles of openness because it develops the queen too early, and exposed to attacks, although it is relatively safe after the withdrawal h4. However, cause some problems opening who plays with black. If I could choose, the latter probably use moves like ... Nf6, ... Bc5 and ... Nc6, but the attack does not allow them Parham, first forces the black (unless you want to sacrifice a pawn) to defend the pawn on e5 (usually with 2 .... Nc6), then after 3.Bc4, forces Black to play 3. ... G6 (inducing a fianchetto with the king's bishop), 3. ... Qe7 (blocking the bishop), or 3. Qf6 .. (taking the best horse box). The Dutch grandmaster Hans Ree 2.Dh5 recently described as "a provocative move, but very sensitive." [Citation needed]

As in the opening like Napoleon (2.Df3) White attempt to perform mate pastor, for example Nc6 3.Bc4 Bc5 2.Dh5? 4.Dxf7 #. In both cases Black can avoid the trap easily, but 2.Df3, unlike the attack Parham, does not prevent the natural development of the black pieces. Sometimes, the worst response is Black 2. D7 ...? 3.Dxe5 # [1] Schiller-Pack, 1969 (this line has, with some others, the checkmate quickly as possible, in favor of White).

I was thinking: If response is played d6 ¿? Protects the pawn on e5, and opens the bishop (but closes another)

REIS d6 I think a good choice as vocin friend says, as if after 3Ac4 g6 4. Qf3 Nf6, the white queen is taking natural horse box element, mientraas the horse is well Developed black box in his natural, if still 5. Qe2 db3 and Black are advanced in desarrolo, with its well-placed pieces.
